Carbon Reduction Plan
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Abraxor Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040 — a decade ahead of the UK's statutory 2050 target.
We are a small, senior engineering agency. Our footprint is modest, but the infrastructure we design for clients is not — so we treat efficient, low-carbon architecture as part of the engineering brief, not an afterthought.
Our emissions footprint
As a remote-first consultancy with no owned premises, vehicles or manufacturing, our direct footprint is small and dominated by electricity, cloud computing and occasional travel.
- Scope 1 (direct emissions): none — we own no vehicles, boilers or plant.
- Scope 2 (purchased energy): electricity for home offices and equipment, sourced on renewable tariffs where available.
- Scope 3 (indirect emissions): cloud and hosting services, business travel, purchased equipment, and commuting. This is where most of our footprint sits — and where we focus our reduction effort.
We review our footprint annually against this baseline and publish material changes in this plan.
Carbon reduction measures
The following measures are in place and will remain the basis of our reduction effort:
- Remote-first by default. No daily commute and no permanent office estate. Client meetings are held by video call unless travel is genuinely necessary.
- Rail over air. Where travel is required within the UK and near Europe, we travel by train rather than plane.
- Low-carbon cloud regions. We host our own infrastructure — and recommend client architectures — in data-centre regions with high renewable-energy mixes, and with providers that publish credible sustainability commitments.
- Efficient engineering. Right-sized infrastructure, autoscaling, serverless where appropriate, and static delivery where dynamic compute isn't needed. This very site is static HTML with no JavaScript — a deliberately lightweight footprint.
- Long-life equipment. Hardware is used well beyond typical refresh cycles, repaired where possible, and responsibly recycled at end of life.
- Renewable energy. Home-office electricity on renewable tariffs where the supplier offers one.
Planned next steps include formalising an annual Scope 3 estimate for cloud usage and setting interim reduction targets on the path to 2040.
