Firefox to overtake Internet Explorer 6 as the leading browser version
Looking at browser share data and doing some simple forecast calculations using the forecast functionality in Microsoft Excel threw up some interesting numbers recently. At the moment the leading version is Internet Explorer 6. And by all forecasts Internet Explorer 7 will soon also have a dominant market share.
However, for a period of several months from the end of July, it appears Firefox will gain a market lead. See the following graph to get an idea of what's (potentially) in store.
If this forecast is correct then this will be the first time a none-Microsoft browser version has had market lead since Netscape 4.
Details of the Excel forecast calculations are here.
