“The project was so successful that we were asked to replicate parts of the system to enable feeds for many other stock exchanges, including the London Stock Exchange”
SPDRGoldShares.com is a $30 billion dollar fund that is traded on NYSE (New York Stock Exchange).
CFP, the PR company tasked with producing this site, needed a robust financial system that could easily integrate into their designs. It needed to source financial feeds from NYSE, the Bank of New York and other third party providers.
The data then needed to be displayed on the site as live values, archived data and graphical charts. On top of all this a reliable performance data feed had to be transmitted back to NYSE. Finally, the system had to be resilient enough to manage when there were problems with third party feeds and also seamlessly integrate national holidays.
CFP created the visual design for the website. Abraxor then went to work and created a web-based financial system that processed all incoming and outgoing data. Archived values and dynamically updating graphical charts were implemented allowing minimal maintenance.
A holiday system was built in and, by providing an easy-to-use control panel, we were able to quickly accommodate changes such as the last-minute US holiday caused by the funeral of former president Gerald Ford.
Finally, an A0 financial flow chart was created that made it easier to understand the complex flow of financial information and calculations on the website. A great help for getting managers and new staff members up to speed.
