Abraxor and RICS use the latest web technologies available to manage digital content online and engage a broader audience.
In early 2009 Abraxor teamed up with Atom Publishing, a company specialised in bringing targeted media to its client’s customers, who had won the contract to take on the publishing and website management of the RIBA Journal and RICS Business, the magazines for two prestigious royal institutes in the UK.
Abraxor was called on to turn Atom’s aggressive pitch for a sleek and modern website into a reality. It was our mission to facilitate the transition from a simple profile site (RICS Business) into an attractive and modern online publication.
In order to achieve those objectives the website needed constantly updating with fresh content to encourage an ongoing relationship with their users. Abraxor facilitated this by implementing attractive and flexible templates and integrated them with a content management system (CMS) that allowed content updates and multimedia files to be seamlessly uploaded and displayed on the site. We created the back end infrastructure for blogs and specific interest sections to enhance the user experience. With the option to integrate parts of the site with twitter feeds and editorial blogs there is room to give the site even more personality.
Abraxor created a publishing system that worked with the CMS to automatically optimise files and content for display on the site, dramatically cutting publishing times. Built right, a publishing system can dramatically decrease the time it takes to take to get content live, leading to massive efficiency gains and increased competitiveness.
The RICS Business site needed to process and store a large amount of content effectively, with the ability to store years worth of articles, files and multimedia content with little or no maintenance. Abraxor designed the database with the scope and capacity to store these effectively whilst ensuring they could be easily accessed by a usable navigation structure and a powerful search mechanism.
